About the Wits Fund

The University of the Witwatersrand Fund, Inc. (Wits Fund) is a US-based not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits University), a leading global institution, based in Johannesburg South Africa.

Our goal is to ensure that Wits University remains one of Africa’s – and the world’s – pre-eminent research-intensive educational institutions, with top academic standards, committed faculty, and supportive alumni.

We are committed to doing this by raising the profile of Wits worldwide, strengthening the connection between Wits and its alumni, and raising sufficient funds to support Wits’ endeavors, special projects, research and their ability to attract and retain the best students and faculty.

Stay in Touch

Whether you graduated last year or 50 years ago, we encourage alumni to stay connected to Wits and to other alumni. Update your contact information with Wits Alumni Relations to stay apprised of alumni reunions and events.

Giving

The Wits Fund is dedicated to maintaining Wits University’s global standing by helping to sustain its excellent standards in teaching and research. It can do this only with the continued support of the University’s global network of alumni and friends. Your donation to the Wits Fund not only directly benefits Wits today and in the future, but also helps ensure that the University continues to be respected around the world.

Your donation also helps Wits extend financial support and assistance to needy and academically-deserving students. These students would not be able to access tertiary education without your giving, and on graduating, to have the opportunity to find jobs and be better equipped to build a career, to be financially secure and to raise up their communities.

Wits Centenary

2022 marks 100 years since Wits became a university. We want as many alumni and friends as possible to participate in the centennial celebrations, and to join us on our journey into Wits’ second century.
